Attendance

ATT has high attendance expectations to prepare you for the adult world of work or post-secondary education when attendance is usually expected to be 80%. Also, you need the class time to learn new information, practice new skills, and build supportive relationships with teachers.

You are expected to:

• Attend school regularly and be on time for every class. State law requires daily attendance
for youth between the ages of 5 and 18, or until high school graduation.

• Maintain 80% attendance in all classes. ATT is a mastery learning school. However, to
successfully earn your credits and master the material in a timely way, you must be in class at least 80% of the time.

• Notify the Front Office (765-5517) by 9:00 a.m. if you will be absent. Call in each day that you will be absent. To excuse an absence, provide a written note. In case of an emergency, call in with an explanation as soon as possible, and bring verification (written or otherwise) when you return to ATT.

As needed, the Social Worker or other administrator will be available for crisis management. Absences may be excused for things like: doctor’s appointments; appointments with probation officer, counselor or case manager; diagnostic testing; illness; religious commitments; family emergencies; arrest or detention; or a death in the family. In all cases, you must bring in written documentation indicating where you were and who you were meeting with.

• If you arrive late, sign in and go directly to class. Enter quietly and respectfully.
